Motiv8’s work embraces all five outcomes contained within Every Child Matters:

• Be Healthy
• Stay Safe
• Enjoy and Achieve
• Make a Positive Contribution
• Achieve Economic Wellbeing

The focus is on supporting young people to recognise that they can make a positive contribution, whilst at the same time have fun and be safe.

The primary driver behind Motiv8’s work is to meet the Community Safety agenda to reduce offending and anti-social behaviour. However, there are direct links to a range of other agendas and targets including those within Education, Health, Social Care, Community Cohesion and related to the Economy. The services offered by Motiv8 in partnership with others are aimed at the whole person and do not seek to fragment or compartmentalise young people’s lives.

For many young people growing up in the 21st century low self esteem and confidence combined with lack of motivation have resulted in apathy to a range of mainstream services and provision. Motiv8 seeks to engage with young people by a wide variety of means, within the context of where their lives are at. It is then, having built a relationship of trust, that meaningful personal development can take place whereby the young person sets their own goals.
