In addition to delivering programmes of work that help young people achieve personal accreditation, Motiv8 creates an environment where young people both take a lead in developing new services as well as assessing existing provision. The latter includes the application of recognised standards:

• Hear by Right: the tried and tested framework used to assess and improve practice and policy on the active involvement of young people
• ‘You’re Welcome’ quality criteria: making health services young people friendly

The participation element of provision is both an underlying ethos of Motiv8 as well as forming the basis of specific programmes of work. In particular:

• supporting young people in care having a voice in the decisions that affect them
• engaging young people in shaping adolescent health provision to meet their needs
• ensuring that young people are involved in all levels of decision making within Motiv8.
